Location

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands

Providenciales, often called Provo, is one of seven inhabited islands in the 40-island chain, Turks and Caicos, which forms the southeast tip of the Bahamas. This heavenly, 38-mile-long island set in crystal turquoise waters boasts a 14-mile-long white sand beach and provides spectacular scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities. Beautiful tropical fish flow in schools across the reef; eagle rays, sharks, turtles, dolphins, and manta rays are seen with some regularity in these waters. These dive sites are pristine, many seeming to be untouched by man. However, there is one creature in these waters who seems to prefer the company of humans. Jojo the Dolphin regularly leaves his comrades at sea to join the swimmers in Grace Bay.

Is there anything for the non-diver? Aside from the unsurpassed opportunity to relax and enjoy the warmth of the sun, breathe the pure air, and walk the sugar beach, Provo hosts the only 18-hole golf course in Turks and Caicos. Windsurf, yacht, fish, play tennis, work out in a state-of-the-art fitness center, or bicycle. Take a drive, tour by scooter, or hop a chartered boat or flight to some of the uninhabited islands for beachcombing “par excellence,” or explore the artifacts and buildings of an old sisal and salt industry. Enjoy varied cuisine and meet new friends in a variety of nightclubs.
